The first business idea is to host delievery services. From my own experiences, I find myself often frustrated how the lunch selections at school are so limited. Which forces me to go to stores outside of school to purchase the products I desire. My friends also experience the problem, so I believe that it will be a successful venture idea. We could possibly take orders during break and the morning and deliver items during lunch time. This is also quite a realistic business idea for a student like me, as I will have a small budget and not willing to travel.
Another business idea is I could open a food stand. There are alot of restaurants around the school area that sell popular junk food, but they are not convienient, 7-11 does sell most of the products but at quite expensive prices. They will be the main competition for this venture. We could open the stand during break, lunch, or after school. Having a food safe certificate is a necessity so it would take sometime. Another problem might be low consumers so we would promote our stand everyday. This idea may not be as profitable as there are already alot of options when buying food in the school area but it's a fresh idea and may contribute to higher consumer base.
The delivery business idea is brilliant especially how you take student's order at break and delivery at lunch. I think the difficulty of this is what costumers are demanding for. Some students may want to eat food that don't have any resturants near the school, so you would have to travel further by car or bus.
ReplyDeleteThis idea may not be successful because there's a lot of other competition within the school like the trojan market, cafeteria and vending machine. So you may have to consider selling something extremely unique to catch students' attention.

I don't really like the idea of delivering food to students at lunch. Although the selection may be frustrating at the cafeteria and Trojan Market, I think students are able to walk over to Victoria Drive in a matter of minutes. I could be wrong as it could be a successful idea, but I believe that it depends on how much you charge on top.
ReplyDeleteAs for the second venture idea, I think this may be a little hard to start up. Selling something different would be a must, but it would be difficult to pass it through the Ministry unless it was something healthy.
I think the idea of delivering food to students may become troublesome eventually. As more students hear about your services, there will be more orders and it'd be hard to get it back and forth. Also, I don't think you'd be able to charge much on top of the actual food itself because restaurants are generally not that far away from our school (walkable distance).
ReplyDeleteI don't think your second venture would work inside the school. There is already the cafeteria, trojan market, and the vending machines and I don't see any possible space for a new stand. Also, you'd have to go through a lot of paper work and licensing to open up your own business. In my opinion, it wouldn't be worth all the trouble.
Serving a larger market with a delivery system can be a problem as you simply will not have enough pairs of hands to deliver, and if you plan on using some sort of transportation I dont think it would be worthwhile for simply delivering food from restaurants within short walking distance.
ReplyDeleteA food stand could be very profitable depending on the products you choose to sell. As there is alot of competition around the area, trying to compete by selling the same thing will not work. Unless there is a very original product, this will likely not be a very profitable business.
A delivery service for food seems like a decent idea in concept but in practice, it might not work out. Much planning is needed since at break you'll need to take orders and at lunch you need to deliver. But what is the delivery time overall?
ReplyDeleteA food stand seems to be a popular venture to go into however with much competition in the school with teh cafeteria and the trojan market, it could have difficulties.

I don’t think it will be a good idea because students might not order from you because they can just walk to buy it themselves. And if they do order from you when are you going to get it and how much are you going to charge them. If it cost a lot they probably won’t order it from you. There might be some problems delivering it to lots of people in that short lunch period.
ReplyDeleteThe second idea might not be successful because there are way too many competitions nearby such as Trojan Market and seven eleven. It is hard to attract customer unless you can offer it at a lower price.

The delivery service would be a great idea but one problem is where will you get the time to go out and process all the orders? Also, students would want their lunch promptly therefore, all your lunch must be brought back by lunch.
ReplyDeleteThe delivery service is really clever but I don't really like the idea of it. You'll need a lot of employees for this to happen and a large start up cost.
ReplyDeleteYour second idea would be quite difficult. Junk food has been banned from being sold in the school so that's a problem you'll need to put into consideration.
I am i little confused by what you mean when you say "host" does that mean this service helps you order the food you want and bring it to you or it is a business that has a variety of foods and offers delievery as well? Anyway, i think it's a excellent idea if that means people in this business travel to get the food that you want and deliever it to you. I, for one, think it's a clever and convenient idea!
ReplyDeleteI feel that this second idea would be a little difficult, having to get a food safe certificate, also staying within the school board's rule of not selling junk food. What kind's of food would you sell? and wouldn't it be somewhat similiar to the Trojan Market?
i like the idea of your delivery service because every lunch , the cafe and trojan market were flooded with students that want to buy food. Therefore, having the service can allow students more alternatives to buy food instead of lining up.
ReplyDeletei think the second idea is hard because not many students care about the price and the food itself. If students really care, they will not buy sushi from trojan market because it is at an extremely high price. Also, it is not allowed to sell junk food at school.
The delivery service sounds good but I was just wondering if people would actually pay extra money to get their food delivered to them? Especially if it’s not too far for them to go purchase things on their own. The idea might work out though because you’d be able to market to kids who hate waiting in line for their food. How would you be able to find your customers though? Have a designated waiting area? Or actually go find them? What if you can’t find them?
ReplyDeleteFor your second venture idea, I was just wondering what kinds of food will you be selling? Where are you going to stock or store your food when not in “store hours”?
Overall, I think the delivery service sounds like a good idea and I’m very curious in how that’s going to work out, secondly the other venture idea seems vague because you haven’t mentioned what kinds of food you’re going to sell. Good luck on your venture Benny! :)
I strongly don't see any potential market in your initial venture idea. It seems alright in concept, but to be practical, it's just not realistic. How are you going to manage to get everyone's desired dishes, from specific restaurants at a fixed time?
ReplyDeleteAlso, how are you going to be traveling back n' forth? And you do realize that lunch is only 40minutes right? In my opinion, this venture idea is quite irrational.
Your second venture idea however is more appealing. Even though you'll have a lot of competition such as Trojan Market,Cafeteria,7-Eleven,etc ... you'll still attract a high volume of customers. No one can say no to junk food or other goodies, especially if your prices are going to be lower than those of your competitors. One technique that would help your business idea succeed is selling something new and different in your food stall. Perhaps, mini melts..nachos..or some other sort of delight? Well.. whatever it is, I'm sure if you research your competitors and your market well, you'll be able to gain success in your business.
Both ideas are excellent because they do not really use up any expenses except for shipping and goods. But keep in mind of competition, how will your products be better than the schools products?
